15년의 보석이 다시 드러나다. 그렇습니다. 음악은 오래되면 될수록 더 값어치가 빛이 나는 곡이 있습니다. 기독교인 사이에 히트를 친 아주 유명한 곡입니다. 혹시 모르시는 분이 있다면 꼭 들어 보세요. 토비 맥은 원래 3인조 트리오 밴드에서 힙밥과 랩을 했었습니다. 그러다 잠시 공복 기간을 두었는데, 그때 토비 맥이 솔로 앨범을 내놓고 히트를 치게 되어 본격적 그룹 탈퇴를 하고 솔로 활동을 합니다.

 

이 음악이 주는 메시지가 무엇인가? 메시지는 간단합니다. 세상의 것만 탐하다 살아가면서 평생 그렇게 하다 영혼도 같이 죽게 된다는 것을 알려주는 경고성 노래입니다. 경각심을 갖고 세상에 마음을 두지 말고 하늘나라 소망을 둔 삶을 살아가야겠다는 다짐을 하게 되는 음악입니다. 신의 도움이 없이는 의의 길을 걸어갈 수가 없습니다.

 

피처링을 누가 했나? Kirk Franklin & Mandisa입니다. 피처링은 곡의 분위기를 살리는 보컬을 말해줍니다. 메인 보컬리스트는 아닙니다. 토비 맥은 아주 적절하게 피처링을 남자, 여자를 두 분을 고용해서 앨범의 완성도를 높이는데 큰 역할을 했습니다. 여성의 보컬리스트 Mandisa는 소울풍의 깊이 있는 고음을 자랑합니다. 원조 래퍼의 실력이 돋보이는 Kirk Franklin  실력이 잘 드러납니다.

 

 

뮤직 비디오가 참 인상적입니다.  가게에서 총을 산 청년이 무슨 나쁜 짓을 하려는 것처럼 보입니다. 하지만 회심해서 돌아와 총을 다시 돌려주는 장면이 여운을 남깁니다. 우리의 모든 행동에는 대가가 따르게 마련입니다. 향상 좋은 선택을 하는 여러분이 되시기를 바랍니다.
